One of the goals of modern purchasing is capturing innovation from external sources. According to McKinsey * 25-45% of the organisation's revenues come from innovative products / services. Innovation also helps to eliminate unnecessary product costs by, among others, removing losses in production processes and the supply chain. It is estimated that more than half of the innovations introduced today come from outside the organization: from suppliers, customers or research centers. The purchasing department can both support the innovativeness of suppliers as well as generate and implement their own ideas in the organization. As a result, purchasing representatives will be perceived as value creators and not only as cost cutting specialists.

Building a culture of innovative thinking and action in purchasing

Attention:

We provide this training in a closed form adapted to the internal needs of a given organization or as a broader talent development project. After the workshops, the participants agree on a plan for the systematic use of the newly learned tools as part of their daily duties. In consultation with their supervisor, they determine in which areas of priority should start a systematic search for innovation and practice in the use of tools for this purpose. Then, every 3 weeks or so, we organize (online or physically) regular 2-3-hour meetings of the whole group of participants to share current experiences, re-practice some of the tools and agree on the directions of further development of the generated ideas. Our experience shows that after about 5-6 months of such exercises, participants are ready to independently apply the learned techniques and conduct such processes in the organization. Between individual meetings, program participants have the option of ongoing consultations with the workshop leader in the form of e-mail, telephone and online.
